Welcome/Introductions

Treasurer’s Report (Catherine)
Opt Out/Miner Challenge-
Nicole M. -
Success knowing that this is the only fundraiser for the year (parents know they aren’t going to get hit up for other fundraiser later)
Corporate sponsors (usually businesses with children at the school)
First tier $1 (so that all students get to participate)
All spirit ware prizes
Grand Prize: bounce house/party with principal
Celebration: Big day at school to celebrate “prowl” around the track, small prizes, snack afterwards, people come out to cheer

need a few people to head this up
Purchasing extra spirit ware for this (can be saved for the next year if not all given out)
Assemblies- Keep in budget?
Fall Festival / Family Game Night - pull out these line items?
Fine Arts Day - decrease budget
Recess, Popcorn/Snowcones- remove from budget?
Red Ribbon Week - (Mandy) District is making plans for this, will need money
Reading is Fun- committee that puts on a fun event (Winter Luminary Walk- Book walk, hot chocolate), Black History Museum the same night
Cultural Awareness / Black History Month - These are together
IDEA: Movie Night - (McNitch) teachers were wondering about an outdoor movie night, blow up screen, (Catherine: cost- about $500 for outdoor, $200 for indoor); (Megan: 23-24 year go back to a fall fest instead of Spring Fling)
(Nakia) How long does it take to plan a Fall Festival or Spring Fling? Answer: 6 weeks with all hands on deck (lots of work with time crunch)
IDEA: (Catherine) Do TJ’s Pizza along with Scholastic in the spring; (Megan) TJ’s pizza is good for right before Xmas because of break, pizzas, desserts, etc. works great. They pack everything for you!
Catherine: How do you feel about doing all these things close together? (TJs and Mighty Miners) – Answer: NO, and Xmas is a good time!
Expense Total: 24,560.00 - proposed budget to start the school year

Principal’s Report
Halloween: district shift away from Halloween (inclusion, diversity awareness, etc.); all elementary schools- no Halloween at the district level; teachers can plan their own fall celebrations in their classrooms
Volunteers: individual parents reach out to their students’ teachers; new volunteers need to do background check (good for one calendar year, call Hadley House or Heather in the office for when your calendar year is up); on the form “who is your child and what room are they in?”; in place of Halloween festivities we are doing Red Ribbon Week during Halloween week Oct 24-28
Teacher’s Report
Teachers are feeling like they are finally out of proceedures and rules and getting into their pace in the classroom
Teachers like the Fall Festival/Spring Fling to get to talk to the adults
Parent Volunteers- reach out to your teacher, offer to help and/or gather materials, order off of Amazon, etc.
27 on certified staff, 42 including classified staff
Teachers appreciate being fed/meals provided (lunch, meal train, pot luck, etc.)
